Blem Information Management -  Karting Grand Prix

September 2002

Following on the success of January's event, we held our first summer karting event on the evening of 4th September 2002.  This gave us a chance to introduce some new teams to the event.

Congratulations to Neil Cottington, who took first place, crossing the finishing line only a quarter of a second ahead of Doug Clemmans, who recorded the fastest lap time. Third place Alastair Latimer had the second fastest lap time in the gruelling 10 lap final.

Winter Championship - January 2002

This now famous annual event was held at the Streatham Kart Raceway on Wednesday evening 30th January 2002. Teams attended from far and wide, with many keen to improve on their lap times and race positions. Initial concerns over the new track layout were soon put to rest as the opportunities for overtaking and team tactics revealed themselves. The competition was fierce but friendly, resulting in fewer pile ups and faster laps than previous years.

Charles Gooders, having acquired the widest kart on the track, succeeded in keeping all at bay to secure third place. Newcomer Neil Cottington, for his hot pursuit of last year's winner, was rewarded with second. Roy Bearman, still in a class of his own, took gold for the second time!

Congratulations to all of you and better luck to the rest of us next time!
